Heavy rain expected tonight and tomorrow.

Aucklanders are advised to exercise caution in the coming 24 hours as heavy rain is expected to continue across the region.
Officers at the Auckland Region Emergency Management Centre are monitoring the situation says Group Controller, Harry O’Rourke.
“The predicted path of the approaching storm indicates that while we are not expecting winds of the same intensity as at the weekend, we are expecting heavy rain on already saturated ground,” says Harry.
The MetService has issued a heavy rain warning for the Auckland region and there is a possibility of flooding and rising rivers.
”Rain across the entire region is likely to be heaviest late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, potentially making driving hazardous, especially as people drive to work.”
The Auckland Region Emergency Management Office advises people to take the following simple precautions to minimise the impact of this weather.
At home:

  • Check drains and spouting and clear any blockages
  • Ensure a torch and spare batteries are to hand.
  • Stay up to date with weather forecasts on TV, radio and the internet.
  • Bring pets indoors

On the road drivers are urged to exercise caution:

  • Headlights on
  • Drive to the conditions
  • Keep a safe distance from the car in front
